UNITED METHODIST SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

 

 

 

The United Methodist Scholarship Programs

Scholarships are awarded on an academic year basis. A student is eligible to receive only one United Methodist scholarship during any one academic year.

United Methodist scholarships are available to undergraduate students at more than 100 United Methodist-related colleges and universities.

Many of the scholarships for graduate students are designated for persons pursuing a degree in theological studies (M.Div., D.Min., Ph.D.), higher education administration or older adults changing the ir careers.

Scholarships for racial ethnic undergraduate or graduate students and UM students at non-UM schools are also available.

Who May Apply?

An applicant must be: an active, full member of a United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to applying

A citizen or permanent resident of the U. S. for most programs

Admitted to a full-time degree program in an accredited college/university

Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

How Does One Apply?

Contact the director of financial aid at the United Methodist college or university of your choice, the chairperson of your annual conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry or The United Methodist Scholarship Office at the address listed for information and/or application form or request an application online.

United Methodist Leadership Scholars Program:  $1,000 become $3,000Through the UMLS program, local churches are encouraged to provide $1,000 scholarships for students planning to enroll in a participating United Methodist-related college or university.  These institutions match local church funds for a total award of $2,000.  In addition, the UMHEF has agreed to profice a limited number of $1,000 matching scholarships for a total award of $3,000 (local church, UMHEF, and school funds).  Check out this link for the latest information
